You're My Butterfly

"Butterflies in her eyes and looks to kill"
I found this FABulous black and gold sequin shawl/top at P.S. Too in Athens. It's 100% Silk and made in India. I did a little research and I believe the style is circa late 80's, maybe early 90's... Now all I need is an excuse to wear it out!

The Stones

My first attempt at bib necklaces... I found a bundle of these beautiful opaque citrus colored stones at the craft store and knew I had to do something crafty with them. The stones are hot glued to a piece of gray stiff felt. These stone necklaces match Serena's cuff in my GG gems post. The ends of the ribbon are treated with Fray Check. Both necklace are adjustable.

April showers bring May flowers...

Last month I made these fabric ivory rosette necklaces from an old dress. All ribbons are treated with Fray Check, so no ugly fraying on the ends! All necklaces are adjustable, even the ones with chains.

Back on the Chain Gang!

Here are pictures of 3 new chain necklaces. I'm very much into layering chains and mixing them with beads and baubles.

Bronze layered chains with bronze filigree flowers

Double silver chain with forest green strand of beads and gray silk ribbon rosette

Long pewter layered chains with small clear rectangle and large clear tear drop briolette beads

What I've been working on...

Ok so I've finally got some pictures of the jewelry designs I've been working on. Originally, I wanted to focus on making bib necklaces. But while I was gathering materials I had a few other design ideas. I'm still working on bibs too! Check out the two necklaces below (sorry the pictures are not very clear).

A gold chain is wrapped and twisted twice around a strand of turquoise beads

I am very inspired by Gemma Redux jewelry designs

A large silver chain is wrapped with a light powder blue ribbon and a small silver chain, a cluster of oval briolette beads dangles from the center of the necklace.

So these are just the first of many more designs to come. With each necklace I create I learn something new about the jewelry making process. I've learned that it takes lots of time and patience to finish a complete design idea, but as the creative juices keep flowing the process comes more naturally too. More to come soon! :)

GG gems

The fashionistas of Gossip Girl wear the most fabulous jewelry! Since the series premiered in 2007, the uber-trendy Upper Eastsiders' assembles engineered by stylist Eric Daman have often been an inspiration for my own wardrobe choices and jewelry designs. Take a look...

multi-chain necklaces with large flower embellishments are quite popular this spring season
